Quotes to Live By 1

I'm starting a new series of blogs. They will consisted of quotes--quotes I would like to remember, live by, and think will help anyone throughout life. I am sure there will also be short excerpts too -- in addition to just quotes. Cheers to my new project.

Quote 1:
One night of sadness is not worth forfeiting a day of peace and happiness. JJR

things to remember.

Remember that nothing lasts forever. This knowledge will save you many tears and disappointments. Remember even the best day, the most perfectly pleasant, can end badly and bitterly. This knowledge will eventually stop you from getting carried away in ephemeral bliss. Remember that you can fully control no one and nothing. This knowledge will keep you from believing that your personal expectations will be materialized. Remember that you can only know yourself and that even your own entity can at times be perplexing to comprehend. This knowledge will make you aware that you can never fully trust another person's love for you -- you can never know how faithful or how hurtful that person will be toward you. Remember that you are not in total control--remember that your intentions alone will never be enough no matter how noble they are. This knowledge will lead you to tread with caution. Remember pieces of your heart will inevitably be chipped away. This knowledge will numb your aches and ameliorate the weak and tender spots. Remember no one can love you more than you can love yourself. This knowledge will toughen your skin and your mind. Remember you are weak so that in that knowledge you may become more keen about appearing strong.

Certainty is Always Uncertain

I feel an anxiety to have something I thought I already had, but had forgotten I had. I feel the nervousness of starting something new and the bittersweetness of seeing something pragmatically and realistically for the first time--something that I now realize I interpreted with naivety. JJR

Success

In order to succeed you must have a clear vision of what you ultimately want, you must understand there is no easy way to get there, you must be willing to work very hard and at times do the seemingly nearly impossible to continue on the right path towards your goal, when you are close to defeat you must remember never to allow yourself to be defeated. Finally, more than even believing in your ultimately goal, you must believe in yourself for whether you reach the goal or not rests in your confidence in yourself--in believing in you and you alone. And at that point you must believe you are the best, that no one will surpass you, that no one will ever defeat you, and that you can do whatever it may take until you reach what or where you want. Though others will defeat you at times, it will be in a mere battle, it will not be absolute defeat, and you must know that because you are undefeatable. If and when you arrive at your ultimate goal prepare to begin again--again on yet another journey toward fulfillment. The strongest can never let ambition die--without it there is not enough push, not enough drive, not enough strength to make it. And to make it is what you want.

REMEMBER

When things are low, bad, or too busy remember you just don't have the time to be blue. Remember there is no time to cry or speculate. There is no time to let yourself sink lower. The only option to to work and move on to a better place. Sedative sadness is an impossible luxury.

SENSE

I wish I could just walk about with my eyes closed and nothing to guide me but my scent, my sense of touch, my hearing, and the breeze blowing smoothly through my hair.
